Six years ago Origami Sound started out the way any big love story starts: without an exit plan. It grew from a music blog on tumblr to a series of compilations, to a net label, to a collective of artists, to a different collective of artists and it progressed and changed every year as the two of us behind it were changing and growing as people.

We've also met 5 years ago and the happy coincidence of this encounter shaped Origami Sound into its many phases of existence. Throughout the years both of us left behind evidence that bears our form musically. Our transgressions and discoveries as humans seemed to find a common path with the music we were releasing; from the early days of the first Borealis album to the last thing we've (ever) released, the Soft Talk EP, every piece of music we've gathered bears meaning and comfort in its impermanence.

This music mirrors past versions of ourselves that we feel we must dedicate some shelves to. A cycle seems to have reached its end only to begin again, so we must make room in ourselves for new experience. We've learned so much in this process, made our mistakes, tested our limits and the hardest lesson we've learnt is 'let there be no room for compromise.'

So we are symbolically giving up on this exceptional platform we've created for our own processes of trial and error, for personal developement, for sharing, for caring about other people's tastes, for keeping up with the times while mentally progressing from the white forests of Siberia to the thick forests of Canada, from the depth of Lake Michigan to the daily life in concrete Bucharest to a studio in Helsinki or to a bunker in Aarhus, Denmark. All this music meant real connection.

We've had an emotional relationship with every single person who released music with us. Some stayed friends, others drifted, others became strangers again. We're now ready to move on to a completely new type of experience. In the end, we're simply looking forward to the newfound wholeness of life, which continues to unfold in front of us.
